Google is reportedly planning to launch the Pixel Watch 2 alongside the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro later this fall. The company has been rumored to be working on a new smartwatch for some time now, and the launch of the Pixel Watch 2 is highly anticipated by tech enthusiasts around the world.

According to a source cited by 9to5Google, the Pixel Watch 2's current launch schedule coincides with that of the Pixel 8 series. It is important to note that the "Pixel Watch 2" may not be the final name, but it matches the naming scheme for phones. The fall event, where the Pixel Watch 2 is expected to launch, usually occurs in October. No details have been shared yet about the specs of the Pixel Watch 2.

What We Know About the Pixel Watch So Far

The first edition of the Pixel Watch, launched in October 2022, was Google's initial entry into the smartwatch market. Featuring a circular display, rotating crown, and sleek design, the device runs on Wear OS and has integrated Fitbit features, thanks to Google's acquisition of Fitbit in 2021.

The Pixel Watch offers turn-by-turn navigation on Google Maps and is available in Bluetooth/Wi-Fi and 4G LTE models, priced at $349.99 and $399.99, respectively. The watch comes with a USB-C magnetic charging case and additional watch bands.

What we hope Google Pixel Watch 2 will have

The launch of the Pixel Watch 2 alongside the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro is highly anticipated, and while we don't know much about the smartwatch's features, here are some new features we hope to see:

Design and Display

The Pixel Watch 2 is expected to come with a round dome-shaped display [16]. However, we need to learn more about the display size or resolution. The smartwatch is also rumored to feature heavy integration with Fitbit [16], which Google acquired in 2021.

Sensors For Monitoring Health

Given that the Pixel Watch 2 is rumored to feature heavy integration with Fitbit, we hope that Google will include new health sensors on the smartwatch. This could consist of a blood oxygen sensor, a body temperature sensor, and a stress sensor, among others. These sensors could make the Pixel Watch 2 popular among health and fitness enthusiasts.

Longer Battery Life

Battery life is a crucial aspect of any smartwatch, and we hope that the Pixel Watch 2 will offer longer battery life than its predecessor. With longer battery life, users won't have to worry about charging the smartwatch frequently, which could make it more convenient to use.

Variety of Sizes

One of the biggest complaints about the first Pixel Watch was that it only came in one size. We hope that with the Pixel Watch 2, Google will offer more size options to cater to different wrist sizes.

Size of The Bezels

Another area for improvement with the first Pixel Watch was its relatively large bezels, which made it look outdated compared to other smartwatches on the market. We hope that Google will reduce the size of the bezels on the Pixel Watch 2 to make it look more modern and sleek.

Features and Specs

There are currently no concrete details about the features and specs of the Pixel Watch 2. However, given that it will likely be a high-end smartwatch, we can expect it to come with advanced health and fitness tracking features, voice commands, and Google Assistant integration.

Release Date and Price

The Pixel Watch 2 is expected to launch alongside the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro in October 2023. However, Google still needs to confirm the exact release date. As for the price, we can expect the Pixel Watch 2 to cost around $349 for the Bluetooth/Wi-Fi model and around $399 for the 4G LTE model.

Why Is the Launch of the Pixel Watch 2 So Highly Anticipated?

Google's first attempt at a smartwatch, the LG Watch Style, was widely criticized for its lack of features and poor performance. However, with the Pixel Watch 2, Google has a chance to redeem itself and become a serious competitor in the smartwatch market.

Moreover, with the integration of Fitbit, the Pixel Watch 2 could offer advanced health and fitness tracking features, which could make it a popular choice among fitness enthusiasts.

The Pixel Watch 2 is one of the most highly anticipated smartwatches of 2023, and with its launch reportedly set to coincide with the release of the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro, it's sure to make waves in the tech world. While details about the smartwatch are still scarce, we can expect it to come with a round dome-shaped display, advanced health and fitness tracking features, voice commands, and Google Assistant integration. We can't wait to see what Google has in store for us.
