Leaked pricing for the Google Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro revealed, and it's fantastic news

While you wait, someone somewhere has leaked the pricing details of Google's new flagships, and they're looking pretty good. A Reddit user with a very accurate track record put up some Pixel 6 specs and prices on Monday morning, claiming that it is from a press release from Carphone Warehouse. We've been able to verify the pricing information with our sources in Australia, and it looks like they will be accurate. The Google Pixel 6 is anticipated to be less expensive than the iPhone 13 and Samsung Galaxy S22.

We're only hours from Google's Android smartphone release. While much of the information about the regular and Pro next-generation Pixel phones have leaked or teased, until now, pricing has been a little more challenging to figure out. It looks like Argentinian carrier Telefonica has stepped up to the plate and shared both prices and release dates for the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro.

According to a slew of supposed leaks, the Google Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro will retail for $599 and $898 each. These prices are far lower than anticipated for a pair of phones expected to be genuine Android flagship contenders for 2021.

Evan Lei (@EvanLei1) noticed price tags on empty shelves at Target during a visit. Using Target's inventory management system checker, M. Brandon Lee of This Is Tech Today was subsequently able to validate the prices.

Before we get to the pricing, though, something else has come out of these leaks. Evan and Brandon both noted that one of the images showed a barcode for the Pixel 6 with two surprising designations: "Sargo" and "Bonito." These names match up perfectly to what we've been calling the standard and pro models (respectively).

For those who don't know, Sargo is a small octopus-based creature that lives in saltwater seas, while Bonito is a fish found mainly in freshwater environments. As crazy as it may seem, this makes some sense since Google has already confirmed the codenames. A move like this wouldn't be unprecedented either. When Google first started naming Pixel devices after aquatic creatures, the Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P were codenamed Bullhead and Angler, respectively.

The Pixel 6's price would be $200 less than the iPhone 13 and Samsung Galaxy S21 at $599, owing to its lower starting cost. The Pixel 6 Pro could go for around $900 against the $1,000 iPhone 13 Pro or Galaxy S21 Plus. The Pixel 6 may be less expensive than previous Samsung's Galaxy S Plus phone models, making it comparable to the Galaxy S22.

The Pixel 6 Pro appears to be a better choice 

According to previous price leaks, we expected that the Pixel 6 Pro would be a better choice because it provided significantly greater value at a small $150 premium than the basic Pixel 6. We had previously estimated the Pixel 6 Pro to cost about $1,200.

It would be cheaper than the Galaxy S21 Plus and iPhone 13 Pro because it would start with 64GB of storage, which neither of those phones can match at that same price point. The Pixel 6 will also offer 128GB and 256GB tiers for users who want more, but what is unknown is what these variants might cost.

However, now that the Pixel 6 is expected to be a lot lower, it has a greater appeal. A pure Android phone with potentially exceptional camera performance and a custom chip for less than other flagship phones are undoubtedly worth considering.

Leaked price from Australia

Thanks to (_genericusername_ on Reddit's r/GooglePixel) with some developments on the pricing front, although they come from across the world. A widely-viewed Australian commercial for Google's new phone, broadcast live by mistake ahead of the phone's official launch, emphasizes the complete package as promised by Google and the prices Australians may have to pay for the Google Pixel 6. The commercial implies the base Pixel 6 will cost AU$999, the same price as in Australia for the Google Pixel 5 when it launched there. The Google Pixel 5 debuted in Australia for AU$699. official debut.

The Australian commercial also reveals many of the features that have been rumored, leaked, or announced previously. These include the company's first "Tensor" chipset, larger batteries and faster charging, the Magic Eraser photo editing tool, and the new under-display fingerprint reader.

The Pixel 6's revised design, supply chain leaks, and price rumors have all but assured its release. This new leak appears to suggest a price of $600 or $700 for the smaller variant, with a $200/300 price gap between it and its bigger brother, the regular Pixel 6 now not only appears to be a great smartphone bargain in general but also the best Pixel 6 for most consumers. It may be a fantastic option for customers wanting the best Android phones on a tight budget, too.

On October 19, Google is set to present the Pixel 6 in its entirety at the Pixel Fall Launch. The event will begin at 10am Pacific Time / 1pm Eastern Time / 6pm BST (that's 4am AEDT on October 20). This indicates there are still hours to go until the official debut.
